Bailout Training Posted on November 7, 2022 by chuckm During the week of October 24th, members of the Woodbridge Fire Department participated in a training intended to teach proper bailout techniques. While fighting a fire, there are times when the environment will be life-threatening for firefighters to remain inside. If an immediate and safe escape route is unavailable, the situation may call for the firefighters to evacuate via a window or balcony from a potentially dangerous height. With this training, members can now deploy their new bailout equipment, hook themselves up to a stable and secure object in the room, and bail out of the room to hang from the side of the building. From there, they can repel down the side of the building to safety.
